I recently had the pleasure of visiting the really very lovely walled garden at @loseley_park. So enchanting was the scent of over 1,000 english roses & sight of that ancient wisteria, that I couldn’t help but write about said visit☝🏻

I’ve never been one to save anything for best. As our great nation of social butterflies is poised to reunite in style, could it finally be time to book a haircut, pop That Dress on and show up with other folk? 🍸 Just be sure to bring some hig Yesterday I went to see Mama & took her on her first Proper Outing, since March. I drove us to @secrettsmilford, which, frankly, may as well as have been @the_royal_ascot, such was both of our thrill. I didn’t wear a hat, but we did spend c Sitting still and reading stories (with tea). 🤎 It is wonderful to write and share thoughts. But simply reciting our own tales into an echo chamber is not enough. In every writer there must be an impassioned and dedicated reader, willing to listen t Loving post more than ever at present and this properly ‘oof’ postcard is a favourite. 🖋 Full of mood, it is a 1946 pencil sketch by Dutch artist M.C. Escher. Knowing I enjoy 💀 in art, @sarahcharig kindly sent this one, with an invitati Never been surer. Thanks mate 🤍. Happy anniversary. x Fresh from tennis to check on the garden. 🌱 Braved uprooting this handsome rhubarb to make way for an anniversary gift (david_austin_roses Winchester Cathedral). 🌹 So - green - fingers crossed please, for both their good health 💚 Spent this week n I like this quote so much I wrote it out to stick above my desk. I find it especially helpful on days when the words won’t assemble and the temptation to just give up and cook something is overwhelming.

Inspiration from @officialagathac It’s been almost two months since I needed a handbag, leaving me longing for a new summer accessory. @hawswateringcans definitely nailed that 💚 Enjoy your evening, I’m off to enjoy a glass of rosé whilst watering the pots.

#slow Award-winning blousy peonies as a nod to The RHS Chelsea Flower Show. The greatest flower show on earth should have opened in London this week, so I wrote something about planting, wearing florals and tuning into BBC2 🌸 For as every gardener worth t 🇬🇧 #veday75 The cake looks marginally less appealing today. This time has done many things for each of us. I have realised that cooking, kissing & trees are my daily essentials, and today the Postman reminded me how much I miss my best friend @goose2786. This sunny weekend should have seen her marry her h Plan A for this weekend was to be in Mallorca sipping hugos on @danny.woodcock ‘s birthday. But we are nothing if not adaptable, so I exchanged sesame oil for lemons with a neighbour, gathered up mint from the garden & recreated his favouri As we adjust to being housebound & endeavour to bring meaning to the days that lie ahead, simple rituals such as bathing can help. Restoring solace to body and mind, my own tub is rather more modest than this heavenly one at @upperhouse_hkg, but Welcoming each season into my home has long been a specialist subject of mine. This year, Spring looks rather different, so as we patiently await the return of late evening walks and clinking glasses with friends, @rebeccaudallhome has shared some eg To the women I call my own. There for the beaming, sunny wonderful days and those darker, knottier ones spent at bedsides and on floors. Thank you. 🤍 Even through the drapes we could hear last night’s rain, as she lashed against window panes and overfilled the bird baths. I braved the flower market and hung pom poms from the dresser, endeavouring to ‘bring spring’ to my Godmother Enjoy a day about love, passionately dislike a PDA. But in the name of Saint Valentine & because I’m a difficult only child: You’re a legend @danny.woodcock 🖤 A final, near-perfect morning view to conclude 2020 & all its joy, satisfaction, anxiety and shortfalls. We made it. Well done all of us. Here’s to the next. Happy New Year🌙✨💫 Wholeheartedly agree with Edith Sitwell that: "Winter is the time for comfort, for good food and warmth, for the touch of a friendly hand and for a talk beside the fire: it is a time for home." ❤️
